NaNoWriMo has begun and I have pneumonia. I've never been this sick in my life. It started as a run-of-the-mill chest cold and then just never went away. I come from a family with a firm tradition of never going to the doctor for anything (not out of mistrust of medicine, simply for lack of resources and insurance), so it took a lot for me to admit that I needed to be seen.
And hey, why not throw on a cat with an ear infection while I'm dealing with not being able to breathe? We can both be on amoxicillin together! Antibiotics are a miracle of science.
Here's a picture of my sad cat.
But, as far as NaNoWriMo goes, I'm still on track! The writing is just going so easy and I don't know what I'm doing to channel this flow. Well, I have an idea. I went into this project with more experience. I've learned that the important draft is the one that comes after this. Editing is where your story comes together. And so I'm writing messy and I'm having fun. I'm going to have a lot to clean up later, but gosh, it's so freeing to just sit down and shrug my shoulders and say "I don't know if this is a good idea, but it's silly/crazy/weird/interesting, so I'm going to go with it!" And also "I don't think this sentence is very good but instead of getting stuck trying to come up with something better, I'm just going to move on!"
Like holy hell, leaving the editing for when you're editing. Why is this a mind-blowing concept?
I hope your NaNoWriMo is going well and that you and your pets are healthier than I am right now.
